Yayyyy It's My Birthday!

I turned 29 years old today and I can't believe it's been another 365 days already! It seems like it was just yesterday that I was a child without a care in the world. My, how time certainly does fly. The funny thing is...each year goes by faster and faster!

I didn't do too much today, I pretty much just had a "lazy day". I stayed in the bed until the late morning, got up, ate and watched TV. I didn't do any work today and am very proud of myself for being able to just take it easy. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to because I am usually always working on something.

What I didn't expect was to receive any gifts, therefore you can imagine my surprise when I received not one, but two gifts from my Mommy! She usually does something for my sisters and I every year for our birthdays, so I really don't know why I continue to be surprised every year! LOL

My first gift was new Pajamas. Those are always good!

The second gift was a spa set, which includes a bathrobe.

And Last, but not least:

A Tweety Bird card.

I've always loved Tweety Bird. My Mother must have remembered when I had a picture of Tweety on my bedroom door as a teenager.

Overall, I must say that this was a very good birthday. The people I love called with well wishes and I got to take it easy. I am always very thankful for God allowing me to see another year.

God Bless

Is Technology Making Things Better Or Worse?

Technology has gotten more and more advanced over the years making things easier for people. But is it possible that technology has made things too easy?

An Exercise Physiologist recently stated "People are burning 700 less calories a week since the 1970's due to technology. Technology is supposed to be used to free up our time, but instead it is consuming us...causing us to move less and less".

That is the truest statement I have heard in a long time. How often do we hear the media mention the rapid growth of obesity in the U.S. It is even begining to affect children. There are now many cases of children having diabetes due to them being overweight. This never used to be a problem before. Children are now spending most of their time texting, being on Facebook or playing video games instead of playing outside like they used to!

Most adults are also very consumed with technology. Many adults are also on Facebook and other social media sites for HOURS, they are constantly texting and yes...even playing video games (usually young adults). There is no wonder this disasterous monster that we call obesity is taking over!

As if the physical disadvantages weren't enough, the social disadvantages of technology can be equally as bad, in my opinion. Now of course there are wonderful things about technology which allows people to connect with other people all over the world (such as this blog), however, it can also allow people to have less and less "real" interaction with each other.

Many people barely pick up the phone to verbally speak to anyone anymore. They either text or email and that completely drives me up the wall! LOL I never understood why someone would pick up their cell PHONE and text me instead of call. I've always thought, "So you pick up your phone and take 45 seconds (usually longer) to send a text, when you could have dialed 7 little digits in 5 seconds". To make matters worse, people even want to text actual conversations. I never understood why people would want to spend 3 or 4 minutes texting something that could have verbally been discussed in 30 seconds had they just called. I really don't like texting! Can you tell? LOL

Now don't get me wrong, I understand that a text message can be a good way to communicate with someone at times when you may not be able to verbally speak. I send texts at times, however, I think people really take it too far. It bugs me the most when people text at the dinner table or while watching a movie.

Facebook can be the culprit too. I had a friend who I was talking to on the phone one day and every time I said something she would say "what?". I found out it was because she was trying to talk to me and be on Facebook at the same time. Geez!

People think I'm strange for not being that in to technology. My family and friends often tease me for having just a "normal" cell phone without all of the bells and whistles. My sister actually broke down and bought me a new cell phone for my birthday last year because I just refused to do it. She told me she was sick of seeing me "with that old phone!". LOL, gotta love sisters!

I enjoy my simple life, although everyone who knows me may not understand why. Simplicity makes life a lot less stressful and gives me a lot more peace. I used to be on social media sites before I closed them months ago because they were just driving me crazy! Since then, my mind has been a lot clearer and I've had more time to do the things that really matter.

Please let me know your views about this subject. I would love to hear your thoughts regardless if you agree or disagree.

Happy Easter!

The Many Benefits of Honey

Honey has been nature's cure for many things since the beginning of time. Over the last year or so, I have been using honey for many different things and have had great results. I will share those things with you in this post.

Using Honey for Cuts

I was washing dishes a few months ago and accidentally cut my finger with one of the knives "lurking" in the water (yikes!). It wasn't very serious but was still cut pretty badly. I remembered coming across an article a while back mentioning how using honey on a cut would work wonders, therefore, I decided to give it a try.

I couldn't believe how quickly and wonderfully it worked! I saw the skin around the cut start to close up almost instantly right before my eyes, after only applying the honey one time. I applied it a couple more times that day and by the next day, the cut was completely closed.

Although it was closed, it still wasn't completely healed yet, therefore, I continued applying it the next day as well. By the 3rd day the cut was completely healed and a few days later the mark had completely faded away. There was absolutely no scar left behind! I have been raving about honey for cuts ever since... Neosporin has nothing on honey!

Using Honey For Hair

Honey works as a natural humectant, therefore, adding a tablespoon or so of honey to your conditioner will help with dry hair. Just squeeze some conditioner (enough to cover all of your hair) into a cup or container, then stir in the honey. Leave it in your hair for the recommended time on the conditioner bottle, then rinse out. It should come out of your hair relatively easily. Honey amazingly loses it's stickiness once it's immersed in water.

Using Honey For Skin

This is one I have probably used the most. My face always has a very healthy glow after applying honey to it. Honey can be applied immediately after washing your face or you can use it in place of cleansers. Just wet your face, massage it with water, blot dry then apply the honey all over. After applying the honey to your face, leave on for 30 minutes to an hour, then rinse it off. Whatever moisturizer you use afterwards will work even better if you use honey first. Since honey is a natural humectant (as mentioned earlier) it will lock in moisture.

Using Honey For Acne

I have suffered from acne for many years and using honey has been one of the things that has aided in FINALLY getting it under control. To use honey for acne, you should follow the same steps listed above under "Using Honey For Skin". The only difference is, you may want to also take honey internally as well. You can just take a tablespoon a day alone, or stir it into a cup of warm water (or tea) and take it that way. The liquid being warm will help the honey work better through your body's system.

Taking Honey For Constipation

This is one my mother taught me a very long time ago while I was still very young. It's very simple...take 2 tablespoons of honey alone everyday until the "problem" is solved. You should see results in 2 or 3 days (sometimes the same day). It's important to start taking the honey as soon as you notice the problem. Also, drinking lots of water and eating fruits and vegetables will speed up the process.

I'm still on a search for more honey benefits. If you know of any others, please share.
