Birthday

Today I had a nice, relaxing birthday.  I got some great gifts and spent quality time with those I care about most.  It's funny how every year I never expect any gifts at all but always seem to get them.

I ended up getting a new purse (which I really needed), a new wallet (which I needed even more!) and good ole' money which you can never go wrong with!

Overall, the day was pretty laid back but I did go out for a little while in the afternoon.  Even ended up getting a pizza (That will be the last time I do that for awhile.  Gotta eat healthy!).

I didn't have a cake, though.  Now that I think about it, I haven't had one in quite a few years.  Maybe I'll add that to the list next year.

Speaking of cake... my best friend's son's birthday was a few days ago and she told me her son didn't want a cake.  Instead he asked for brownies, lol.  I thought that was too cute.

I really enjoyed myself even with everything being so laid back.  I notice the older I get, the more I appreciate those I love just being there.  It's a great feeling to just be in their company.  All of the added things are just bonuses.

Hey, What Happened? I Thought It Was Spring!

Okay, I think Mother Nature must be playing a trick on us here in my neck of the woods, lol.  The last couple of days I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and bright, sunny skies.  "Ah, another lovely spring day", I think to myself.  But then I realize I've been fooled once I step outside and it's COLD!

It's been like 40 degrees here the last couple of days and yesterday it actually snowed.  Yes SNOWED!  Luckily it melted almost instantly but I've come to the conclusion that Mother Nature is either confused, forgot that it's spring or is just really good at playing pranks:).

Well, it's not exactly like I'm surprised. You never know what to expect here in the Midwest (especially Wisconsin!) so I'm used to it.

If it's warm where you are, please send some of it this way!

Cows or Supermodels?

As a Wisconsinite I LOVE cows.   So anytime I am somewhere and get the opportunity to take pictures of them, I can't resist.

I came to the conclusion that the particular cows I'm going to share with you today must be special. They must be used to taking pictures because I could swear that they were actually posing, lol.  I had to wonder if cows can be supermodels too!

Looking right at the camera, like it's nothing! LOL

Here's another one, clearly posing.

The diva.  Clearly doesn't want to be bothered!
The superstar -  Lives for the camera!  LOL

I hope you've enjoyed!

Finally Starting To Feel Like Spring!

It's FINALLY starting to feel like spring, here in Wisconsin.

For the first two weeks, I think Mother Nature must have forgotten that it was spring because it was freezing!  Then it warmed up a little early last week but all we got was a bunch of rain and thunder storms.  I know that April showers bring May flowers but when it rains for three days straight, it gets draining.

It has been warm and sunny for the last few days and spring is in full effect.  I'm hoping that it stays this way.  I'm glad spring is finally here but there was one thing I forgot about when it comes to spring...INSECTS!  There is a fly in the house that keeps buzzing around everywhere and is driving me crazy. Boooooo!

Other than that, I'm enjoying spring.  I hope that you are enjoying the weather where you are, as well.

Fog, Fog and MORE FOG!

Have you ever been in fog so thick that you literally couldn't see a few feet in front of you?  Well, I have.  These photos are actually from Autumn of 2013 (Yes, I said 2013!).  It was around the time I was having technical issues while trying to blog, so I never got around to uploading them.

All of these photos were within about a week of each other.  There was a lot of fog in those 3 weeks!

The photo below looked like something out of the X-Files. It actually looks like it's glowing.  Crazy!

About a week and a half later, this is how it looked outside.

Then about 6 days after that, I went outside and saw this.

This was the worst.  As you can see, it was not possible to see anything outside.  I remember there was actually a warning issued that day.

Luckily it hasn't been foggy like that since then.  Hopefully it stays that way!

Happy Easter

Have you ever wondered how the date is chosen every year for Easter?  I used to be so clueless.  I always wondered why it would sometimes be in March and other times in April.  Even late April a few times.  I was determined to find out the "rule", therefore I did some digging about a year ago.  Some of you may already know the rule, but for those of you who are completely clueless like I was, here it goes!

Easter is always the very first Sunday on or after the very first full moon in Spring.  If you notice, the first full moon in spring was the day before Easter this year.

I hope this helped for anyone who was wondering.

Happy Easter!

Christmas Lights ... In April?

This post will be rounding up my 2014 updates.  Yep, you guessed it...this one is from the Christmas season.  I know I'm so behind, with it being April and all but I had to share this with you.

My mom and I went on the "Jingle Bus" tour in Milwaukee where the bus rides around different historical places in the city.  The tour guides give the history of the places as the bus rides by.  The tour included different business and parks around the city.  It's always done around the holidays because the downtown area is decorated with lights.

The meeting place for the tour was at the Grand Avenue Mall.  When we purchased our tickets, we were given the time of our tour along with a voucher for a free cookie and hot cocoa.  All for only one dollar!  Each bus left 20 minutes after the next and the actual tour/ bus ride lasted about 40 minutes each.

We had about an hour wait before our bus left so we got our cookie and hot cocoa while we waited.  We also walked around to view the decorations.

They even had an orchestra of bears.  Too cute!

Once we got on the bus I was determined to get a lot of pictures.  However, it was a little trickier than I thought it would be since the bus was constantly moving and there was a glare on the bus window a lot of times.  I got a couple good pictures, though.

Gingerbread Man!

There were a lot more place that either came out blurry when I took the picture or that I just wasn't fast enough to get the picture at all with the bus moving.

Although it was some nice scenery, honestly my mom and I weren't exactly thrilled.  We thought we were going to see a lot more lights than we did.  It seemed like the only places on the tour that had really nice lights were the parks.

Since our Christmas light craving wasn't satisfied, my mom had an idea to drive by the Miller Brewing lights display.  The display is only about a block or two long but they really go all out! Every 15 minutes or so, the light show would begin and would last for about 10 minutes.  We didn't even know this existed until my mom saw it mentioned on TV earlier that week.  She was determined to see it from that moment on.

We caught the last few minutes of the previous show when we first got there, then we waited until it began again and watched it from the beginning.  It was great!  It was COLD so I took the pictures while sitting in the car.  I got so many great pictures that I can't possibly put them all on here, but I'll share as many of them with you as I can.

The Miller lights show ended the night off perfectly.  It was a long night but overall it was a great excursion with Mommy!

Food, Mascots and BINGO!

I'm still playing catch up with my updates and this one is about an event that was at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

I remember not really wanting to go but my sister talked me into it and I'm so glad she did!  It was so much fun.  We got to see the mascots for the Bucks and the Admirals, and ate some really yummy food.

It was actually quite funny.  While my sister and I were sitting at the table (just after we finished eating), I saw Bango.  As soon as I saw him, I told my sister "There's Bango!", then I ran over there like a little kid!  Then I turned around a few seconds later and my sister was right behind me acting like a little kid as well.

Here's Bango

Then came Roscoe

My sister and I hunted both of them down to get a picture with the two of them together.  The problem was, random kids kept jumping in the picture!  Finally we were able to get the two of them alone.

After we chased down the mascots, my sister talked me into playing bingo.  I actually can't remember the last time I played before that night.  Oddly enough my sister and I both won at the exact same time!  Apparently that wasn't enough for her because she played a few more times until she won again, lol.  We won a bag full of Bucks merchandise and a few other things.

All in all it was a really fun night.
